Step #1 Plan
- Gather necessary materials and data to include in the executive summary.
- Financials, projections, analytics, signups, market size, and problem statistics.
- Decide what tools you’d like to use to create the summary. A simple text editor like Google Docs or MS Word is totally acceptable but if you would like to incorporate designs or add in specific elements you can consider Canva.
- Be sure you have the page in both .txt / .doc and .pdf format. Some online forms require a specific file version.
- When sending your ex summary over email, use DocSend or BriefLink to track opens and engagement. Canva also had built in links that track views and time watched.
Step #2 Structure
- Title & Overview
- Problem
- Solution
- Traction
- Why now
- Market & competition
- Business model
- Team
Step #3 Build, get feedback, repeat
- Updating your ex summary is an ongoing process. You will need to make changes almost after every meeting as you receive more and more feedback. Follow these steps: create your doc, present it, collect feedback, fix mistakes, and repeat the iteration.
